Ludwig Thoma，Bavarian journalist and author. Initially a student of forestry and law, subsequently publisher and editor of the magazine "Simplicissimus" (1899). Writer of folksy, satirical stories, set in small-town or rural Bavaria. 'Thoma' was a nom de plume: his real name was Peter Schlemihl.
