Yordan Yovkov，Was born and grew up in the Dobrudzha district, where he became a village teacher. Mobilized in 1912 for the Balkan war and the First World War, during which he is wounded. Moves to Sofia after the war. First stories appeared in 1917, followed by a second collection in 1918.
