Hyan Thiboutot was born in the little mining town of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. His father Gordon was a miner, and mother Veronique a homemaker, who instilled in him the love of literature and scary movies. At twenty-three, he headed the writer's department at RedDot Production Studios for three years.
