John Milas was born in Wisconsin in 1988 and grew up in central Illinois with aspirations to become a writer and filmmaker. After briefly attending Parkland College in Champaign, he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2008 and was honorably discharged four years later. He began attending the University of Illinois in 2012.
