Liana Werner-Gray was born and raised in Australia. In her final year of schooling at Charles Darwin University she received the school's award for the arts, the Liana Nappi Award. Werner-Gray had her first acting role on a children television show, Yamba's Playtime (1995), as "Princess Liana".
