Sedat Simavi was born in 1896 in Istanbul where he received his education respectively in Saint Joseph French School and Galatasaray High school. He completed Galatasaray High School in 1912 where he also served as a history teacher. He published humor magazines such as Inci, Diken and Karikatur.
